Note on the storyteller

Kim completed her bachelor in biology in her hometown of Montreal before setting sail to Sept-Îles, on the northern shore of Quebec. Life - and a great deal of interest for ocean sciences - brought her to work on a variety of vessels in the marine field. Fisheries at sea observer; zodiac tour guide; marine mammals observer; water, sediments, marine plants sampling… She now works in underwater acoustics, travelling to different places to conduct field research.

Creative by nature, Kim has always practiced photography as her main hobby, besides travelling and eating chocolate. She is the happiest on the water, but you may also find her in the woods fighting off mosquitoes, on the couch nose deep in a book, or biking the streets of a city. She calls Montreal home, but keeps pieces of everywhere she goes with her. Here are some selected images and stories from her adventures and fieldwork. She currently lives in Vancouver.

In here you’ll notice different qualities and styles in the pictures, this because of the different types of cameras in use. Grainier pictures are usually the result of analog photography. Digital and film are equally present, but the reason one may sometimes be the sole instrument to record a particular journey is either an artistic or practical choice.
